Dasa's CEO joins the Bem Maior Movement, co-founded by Elie Horn, which operates throughout the country
Businessman Pedro Bueno, from Dasa, has joined the Bem Maior Movement (MBM), which encourages donations among Brazilian businesspeople.
Co-founded by Elie Horn of Cyrela, Rubens Menin of CRV and CNN, and Eugênio Mattar of Localiza, the Movement counts among its members Jayme Garfynkel of Porto Seguro and Luciano Huck, a presenter on TV Globo, among others
The Movement, which operates throughout Brazil, identifies the projects it intends to support based on the size of their impact on society and the potential for transformation they can generate.
According to Pedro, as reported by MBM, "strategic philanthropy is a powerful tool for reducing inequalities and generating major transformations.".
The Brazilian elite isn't exactly associated with a culture of giving, like in the United States, for example, but since the first year of the pandemic, something seems to be changing.
The big name in Brazil is Horn, who, in addition to working at MBM, is also part of the international movement The Giving Pledge, whose signatories commit to donating at least 60% of their entire wealth during their lifetime—and not to their heirs. From Brazil, besides Horn, only the Colombian David Vélez, controller of Nubank, is part of the group.
