Strategic philanthropy in the field: why agriculture is also a territory for social impact?
In an article published in Globo Rural, Carola MB Matarazzo, executive director of the Bem Maior Movement, and Belisa Maggi, president of the André and Lucia Maggi Foundation and the Signativo Institute, propose a close look at the opportunities that the Brazilian countryside offers to private social investment.
Based on data from the "Agriculture and Living Conditions"by Agenda Pública, the text shows that rural areas concentrate serious social inequalities, but are also a breeding ground for community strength, local knowledge, and social innovation. Precisely for this reason, it represents fertile ground for strategic philanthropy.
One example is the Mato Grosso Social Investors Network (RIS-MT), a collaborative initiative that brings together companies, foundations, and agricultural institutes to generate coordinated social impact in their territories within the state.
Other highlights include community organizations such as Grupo Semente (Chapada dos Guimarães) and Cerrado de Pé (Goiás), supported by the Futuro Bem Maior program, which demonstrate how investing with listening and proximity generates real and sustainable transformation.
