As I often say: if science can produce a rocket to go to Mars, science must also be able to eliminate poverty. And investing, for example, in transforming favelas into developed, dignified, and digital centers is much cheaper than colonizing another planet.

Our mission is now and here on Earth.

I invite everyone to carefully observe the panorama of social challenges in Brazil, reviewing the data discussed at the Legado , organized by the Bem Maior Movement and Banco Santander, on April 25th.

These are impressive numbers, and I believe that a large part of the wealthier classes are unaware of the magnitude of the challenges. The majority (55%) of Brazilians live with some type of food insecurity, 38% of families depend on donations for food, 73% of homes do not have treated sewage, and about a third of young people do not finish high school.

We can't just stand idly by!

In this context, civil society organizations play a role in seeking innovations, solutions, and technologies that can serve as models and inspiration for the public sector. If we improve the flow of investment into these institutions, the greater their chances of testing, validating, and scaling innovations that can effectively change the face of Brazil.

One example of innovation that I bring from my experience at Gerando Falcões is Favela 3D , which aims to transform favelas into dignified, digital, and developed environments. It's a complete change in the favela, seeking to improve the quality of life of its residents. The program covers various areas such as access to health, the right to education, citizenship and a culture of peace, early childhood, women's empowerment, income generation and culture, sports, and leisure.

We want to show that – with the support of the private sector, the population, civil society organizations, and public authorities – these new social technologies can be applied in the more than 13,000 favelas across the country.

We want to transform the poverty of the favelas into a museum piece.

It is always very important to talk about the best practices adopted in Brazil and about the complex challenges we face. On August 4th, we will have the opportunity to continue this conversation at 1:30 PM, in the pocket edition of Legado, which takes place within Expert XP 2022 .

Imagine talking about the power of philanthropy at the world's largest investment festival! Joining me on stage will be the wonderful Carola Matarazzo, executive director of MBM, and Rubens Menin, co-founder of MBM and CEO of MRV. Moderating will be José Berenguer, CEO of XP!

The Legacy panel at Expert XP 2022 will be held in person at São Paulo Expo, and also online with a free live stream. to schedule it and join us for this very special afternoon! We need to continue working together so that doing good becomes a social legacy for this and future generations!
