The Productive Backyards Project serves communities in the semi-arid Northeast of Brazil facing food insecurity and extreme poverty. Of the 125 million people experiencing food insecurity in Brazil, 46% live in the semi-arid region.
The project promotes agroecology, empowerment, and the transition from monoculture production to family-based agriculture through the implementation of productive backyards alongside social technologies for food production with high water efficiency in the semi-arid context.
