Bem Maior Movement and Recode Libraries">

Ten libraries from four regions of Brazil were awarded for innovation, sustainability and social and digital transformation practices in their municipalities. This initiative is part of our project, in partnership with Movimento Bem Maior, which aims to strengthen a network of public, community, school and university libraries across the country.

In two editions, held in 2019 and 2020, participating professionals received diverse training so that they could draw up a new program based on community research, understanding how the library could contribute to local development in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN (SDGs). In total, 10 training courses were held for more than 100 library professionals. The two phases impacted more than 1,400 people in technology courses offered by participating institutions.

The recognition sought to value professionals and spaces that led the development and implementation of innovative activities based on the demands identified in each municipality. The top 5 in each phase win equipment to support the use of technology in their spaces, such as notebooks (1st and 2nd place), 32″ TV (3rd place), data show (4th place) and multifunctional printer (5th place) .

Congratulations to all participating libraries for their commitment, dedication and quality of their programming for social impact and digital empowerment!

We will soon publish the 2019 and 2020 Best Practices booklet on the Recode website.

About the project

Since 2015, the program has served 607 libraries in all Brazilian states and DF. More than 1,000 activities for social impact were carried out by libraries.
