Our executive director, Carola MB Matarazzo, participated in the third episode of the Folha de S.Paulo special, celebrating 20 years of the Social Entrepreneur Award. During the conversation, Carola highlighted the importance of collaboration to promote significant social changes and reduce inequalities in Brazil.
Carola recalled the partnership between Movimento Bem Maior, IDIS – Institute for the Development of Social Investment and B Social during the pandemic, a collaboration that resulted in the award in 2020. “In one week, we set up an emergency fund for health. It was a huge challenge, with three organizations at different stages who had never worked together before.”
In the chat, together with Paula Fabiani, CEO of IDIS – Institute for the Development of Social Investment, and Gabriel Marmentini, co-founder and executive director of Politize!, Carola discussed the challenges of strengthening civil society in Brazil. She highlighted: “The Bem Maior Movement is dedicated to promoting philanthropy in Brazil. A huge challenge in a country of continental dimensions, with deep-rooted social problems and ongoing ills. We have the challenge of raising awareness among the population, civil society and philanthropists about the need to take co-responsibility and engage with social solutions for the country.”
